Vety and Livestock Innovation and Incubation Foundation (VLIIF):
The livestock, dairy, and fisheries sectors are pivotal in India’s agricultural
landscape and economy. These sectors provide livelihoods to millions of
people and contribute significantly to the country’s food security. However,
they face numerous challenges that hinder their growth and sustainability.
To address the challenges related to this sector and catalyze innovation, the
Vety and Livestock Innovation and Incubation Foundation (VLIIF), a
company registered under section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013 (Ministry of
Corporate Affairs, New Delhi) was established on August 21, 2023. VLIIF
aims to bolster entrepreneurship and innovation in veterinary, animal
sciences, and related domains by identifying innovative and sustainable
solutions using cutting-edge interventions and technologies to solve
pressing problems in livestock, dairy and fisheries sectors and to create
startups and entrepreneurs ecosystem.
VLIIF is committed to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the fields of veterinary, animal sciences, and related domains. The foundation aims to identify and develop sustainable solutions using cutting-edge technologies to address the pressing challenges faced by the livestock, dairy, and fisheries sectors. Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, established in Ludhiana by an act of the Punjab Legislature in 2005, plays a pivotal role in enhancing livestock production, health, and disease prevention through its comprehensive teaching, research, and extension programs. Recognized as one of India’s top veterinary and animal sciences universities, GADVASU significantly bolsters the livestock, dairy, and fisheries sectors, benefiting farmers, entrepreneurs, and society. The livestock sector, contributing about 30% to India’s agricultural GDP, ensures regular income, nutritional security and employment for rural households. Dairying, which accounts for two-thirds of livestock income, provides year-round income and utilizes surplus family labor, proving to be a vital security asset in times of crisis.
