Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University , established in Ludhiana by an act of the Punjab Legislature in 2005, plays a pivotal role in enhancing livestock production, health, and disease prevention through its comprehensive teaching, research, and extension programs. Recognized as one of India’s top veterinary and animal sciences universities, GADVASU significantly bolsters the livestock, dairy, and fisheries sectors, benefiting farmers, entrepreneurs, and society. The livestock sector, contributing about 30% to India’s agricultural GDP, ensures regular income, nutritional security, and employment for rural households. Dairying, which accounts for two-thirds of livestock income, provides year-round income and utilizes surplus family labor, proving to be a vital security asset in times of crisis.

Dairy Innovation and Incubation Centre

Dairy Innovation and Incubation Centre (DIIC) at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana is established as Inclusive Technology Business Incubator (iTBI) and sanctioned in the year 2023 by National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations (NIDHI) of the Department of Science & Technology (DST), New Delhi. DIIC is a joint venture by Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University and Department of Science and Technology (DST). The Centre was set up with the aim of developing startups in the space of Livestock business, Technology, Education, Health care domains that have potential to grow full–fledged business enterprises which can touch & transform for better tens of rural lives.

DIIC Targets

DIIC targets to incubate 15 starts ups in next 3 years through the process of Consulting, Mentoring, Prototype Creation, Leveraging Technology tie ups and Access to Platforms that yield the stated results, Other Business Management (legal & secretarial) Office space services and also co –funding for them. These enterprises are selected on the basis of power of the idea, its business model, potential to scale up and Social impact a partfrom motivation that drives the entrepreneurs. By providing a nurturing environment and access to resources, the i-TBI will encourage the developing and adoption cutting-edge technologies that can enhance productivity, improve product quality, and drive overall growth in the sector. Further, by nurturing a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem, the DIIC aims to contribute to job creation, economic growth, and the overall development of the dairy industry.
