Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, established in Ludhiana by an act of the Punjab Legislature in 2005, plays a pivotal role in enhancing livestock production, health, and disease prevention through its comprehensive teaching, research, and extension programs. Recognized as one of India's top veterinary and animal sciences universities, GADVASU significantly bolsters the livestock, dairy, and fisheries sectors, benefiting farmers, entrepreneurs, and society. The livestock sector, contributing about 30% to India's agricultural GDP, ensures regular income, nutritional security and employment for rural households. Dairying, which accounts for two-thirds of livestock income, provides year-round income and utilizes surplus family labor, proving to be a vital security asset in times of crisis.
